ProBet Place Betting Strategy  - Part Two.

Over the last 4- 5 years, the serious bets we have, ie The ProBet Recs and The Special Bets have a place strike rate of around 78-80%. This means that our serious bets finish either first, second or third nearly 80% of the time and therefore it would seem logical to incorporate a place betting strategy in to our overall betting activities.

I use a strategy called running place doubles, so called because with each selection we are both starting and finishing a betting sequence (double)

Essentially it is an all-up on two horses for a place only. 

Let's look at an example of RPD's using some of our recent selections -
 

1. Maestro Of Murano – won, place price =  $1.32

2. Heart Of The Citi – won, place price = $1.82

3. Easy Silence – won, place price = $1.05

4. Minashee – second, place price = $1.32

 5. Bianreal - third, placed price = $2.03

I have used IASBet place prices but you may do better by using Betfair. 

Using these five horses the sequence of running doubles look like this –

 1/2,  2/3,  3/4,  4/5. 

So those 5 horses provides four place double bets.  Let's work through the first  place double.

You would put $100 on Maestro Of Murano for a place only. Assuming the horse does place you will be returned $132 ($1.32 x $100). You then hold on to that $132 until the next bet comes along. That happened to be Heart Of The Citi.

So you then place your $132 on to Heart Of The Citi for a place only. Assuming he is also placed then you would be returned $240 - which is $132 multiplied by the odds of $1.82. Your initial outlay was $100 and as you have been returned a total of $240 you have made a clear profit of $140.

So let’s say you did each place double for $100, your outlay on those four place doubles would be $400. Here is what the doubles look like with the odds shown, the stake and the total returns -
 

1.  $1.32 x $1.82 = $2.40 x $100 stake = $240

2. $1.82 x $1.05 =  $1.91 x $100 stake = $191

3.  $1.05 x $1.32 = $1.38 x $100 stake = $138

4. $1.32 x $2.03 = $2.68 x $100 stake = $268

                                        Total Return  = $837. 

                                        Outlay           = $400.

                                       Total Profit = $437.

This is a very powerful way of making money by betting horses for a place and I recommend that this be done using the serious bets we have on the ProBet Service.
